Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) for Deutsche Bank Awards for Creative Entrepreneurs (the “Competition”)

The competition

The Competition offers entrants the chance to win up to £20,000.00 to fund their creative enterprise and a year of business support. It is an awards programme designed to provide financial and business support to help launch and/or grow creative enterprises with a positive social impact.
Promoter: [MeWe Foundation, John Morris House, 164 St John’s Hill, London SW11 1SW] (“Promoter”).
1. Eligibility for entry 
1.1 The Competition is only open to individuals who are eligible, as detailed in the eligibility section.
1.2 In the event that a group of individuals make an entry, the majority of individuals within the group must comply with criteria 1.1 above.
1.3 All entries must be made personally by each individual entrant or by a group of individuals as per the eligibility section.
1.4 Entries on behalf of another person or group will not be accepted.
1.5 An individual or group can only enter the Competition once in each yearly iteration.
1.6 The Promoter may, at its sole discretion, refuse to accept submitted entries. For example, the Promoter will not accept any entries that are incomplete or unintelligible or which contain defamatory, malicious or inappropriate content.
1.7 In entering the Competition, entrants confirm that they are eligible to do so and eligible to claim the prize. The Promoter may require entrants to provide proof that they are eligible to enter the Competition and for proof of identity. Failure to provide this proof may result in disqualification from the Competition.
1.8 For the avoidance of doubt, entrants must satisfy the above eligibility criteria at the time of registration and throughout the period of the Competition.
2. How to enter
2.1.1 The first stage on-line application competition will run from 00:01 am on January 31, 2023 (the “Opening Date”) to 11:59 pm on March 31, 2023 (the “Closing Date”) inclusive.
2.1.2 Participation in the Competition is free to enter, and no purchase is necessary.
2.1.3 All entries must be submitted by application form via http://www.dbace.org (“DBACE website”) by the Closing Date.
2.2 Each entrant must submit a video pitch with their online application (max. 1 min duration). The video will be used purely for judging purposes.
2.3 Entrants will need to provide their name and email address, so the Promoter can notify the entrant if they have been successful. It is the responsibility of each entrant to notify the Promoter of any change of contact details. The Promoter will not be held responsible if a communication has not been received by the longlisted entrants.
2.4 After the Closing Date, the Promoter will use a pre-selected panel of shortlisters (“the Shortlisters”) to determine which entrants will be longlisted. Up to 19 entrants will be longlisted. 
2.5 Longlisted entrants will be contacted by the Promoter by May 19, 2023 and invited to a Pitching masterclass and feedback session in preparation for a Heats pitching event in front of a panel of judges between June 12 and June 16, 2023 (the exact date will be confirmed by June 5, 2023).
2.6 Those longlisted from the Heats, for the finals will be contacted by the Promoter by June 16, 2023 and invited to present their pitch again, but this time in front of the finals judging panel, on June 20, 2023.
2.7 Pitching events (Heats and Finals, June & July 2023)
2.7.1 The Promoter will provide financial assistance for travel within the UK to enable the Shortlister(s) to attend the Pitching events. For the avoidance of doubt, the Promoter does not act as a travel agent for the Shortlister(s). Unless otherwise agreed with the Shortlister(s) any travel will be booked by the Promoter on behalf of the Shortlister(s) at the Promoter’s expense.
2.7.2 This financial assistance includes a return train/flight between your nearest train station/airport (if applicable). Please note that the tickets will be booked as agreed between the Promoter and the Shortlister(s) and any bookings made by the Promoter will be on behalf of the Shortlister(s) at the Promoter’s expense for a particular journey. It is the responsibility of those Shortlister(s) to ensure they arrive at the airport/station in time for their journey. The Promoter will not be able to transfer the booking if the Shortlister(s) miss their flight/train journey.
3. Winner announcement 
3.1 Five winners shall be selected by the panel of judges and announced during a ceremony on the evening of July 6, 2023.
4. Prizes
4.1 Winners receive a cash prize, allocated from a £60,000.00 prize fund, to fund the winner’s creative enterprise, and a year of 1:1 business support to include a Business and Leadership Development Course and follow up events.
4.1.1 £60,000.00 will be shared amongst five award winners. Applicants are invited to apply for up to £20,000.00. The final sum awarded to each of the five award winners will be determined by the judging panel.
4.1.2 Payment of funding will be made in three tranches via bank transfer – one (50% of the funding awarded) within six weeks of receiving the award, a second payment (40% of the funding awarded) on receipt of a video diary presenting progress and the impact of the awards (details to be provided by the end of January 2024), and a final payment (10% of the funding awarded) on receipt of a monitoring and evaluation survey submitted to and reviewed by the Promoter. Changes to the timeline of payments may occur at the Promoter’s discretion.
4.2 12 months 1:1 business support 
4.2.1 The 1:1 business support will be an individually tailored package of support to help the winner meet the challenges of starting, growing or accelerating their business. 
4.2.2 The support will be delivered by the Promoter, after an initial assessment of the winner’s needs, using their high calibre roster of mentors, coaches and consultants as well as mentors from Deutsche Bank employees who volunteer. 
4.3 The Business and Leadership Development Course (dates to be confirmed by August 2023)
4.3.1 All winners will be expected to attend all events as part of the Business and Leadership Development Course.
4.3.2 The intensive Business and Leadership Development Course shall be in or around London, at a location to be confirmed by August 2023.
4.3.3 The Promoter will provide financial assistance for travel within the UK and, if necessary, accommodation, to enable the Winner(s) to attend the course. For the avoidance of doubt, the Promoter does not act as a travel agent for the Winner(s). Unless otherwise agreed with the Winner(s) any travel or accommodation will be booked by the Promoter on behalf of the Winner(s) at the Promoter’s expense.
4.3.4 This financial assistance includes:
A. if applicable, accommodation for an overnight stay for the night between Small Business Training days as agreed between the Promoter and the Winner(s) and booked by the Promoter on behalf of Winner(s) at the Promoter’s expense. Please note if Winner(s) reside within easy access to the specified location, no accommodation will be provided but appropriate travel expenses will be reimbursed;
B. a return train/flight between your nearest train station/airport (if applicable). Please note that the tickets will be booked as agreed between the Promoter and the Winner(s) and any bookings made by the Promoter will be on behalf of the Winner(s) at the Promoter’s expense for a particular journey. It is the responsibility of those Winner(s) to ensure they arrive at the airport/station in time for their journey. The Promoter will not be able to transfer the booking if the Winner(s) miss their flight/train journey;
4.4 Entrants who are winners agree that:
4.4.1 they will participate in reasonable publicity relating to the Competition and consents to the use of their name and image by the Promoter for publicity purposes; and
4.4.2 they will respond to e-mails from the Promoter’s team and Deutsche Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility team in a timely way;
4.4.3 they will maintain reasonable communication with the Promoter and Deutsche Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility team for the period from July 6, 2023 until July 31, 2024 and in particular:
A. participate in the filming of the winners’ video diaries to document the progress of their business as agreed between the Promoter and the winners;
B. participate in the 1:1 business support package which could include mentoring, consultancy and/or coaching in a form to be mutually agreed between the Promoter and the winner;
C. participate in the Business and Leadership Development Training;
D. submit a monitoring and evaluation form to the Promoter by the end of July 2024; and
E. assist the Promoter by providing feedback on the DBACE competition and award process and training.
4.5 The prize does not include any work experience.
4.6 There are no alternative prizes and the prize is not negotiable or transferable.
5. Limitation of liability 
5.1 Insofar as this exclusion is permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winners or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize or participating in the Competition provided that this limitation of liability shall not apply in respect of death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the Promoter or of those for whom it is responsible. Entrants’ statutory rights are not affected.
6. Ownership of competition entries and intellectual property rights 
6.1 The Promoter does not claim any rights of ownership in any Competition entry.
6.2 Each entrant agrees:
6.2.1 that the Promoter may make available the idea or enterprise description provided in the online application form on its website or any other media whether now known or invented in the future, and solely for the purposes of publicising the Competition; and
6.2.2 to grant the Promoter a non-exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable licence, for the full period of any intellectual property rights in the description of the idea or enterprise provided in the application form to use, display, publish, transmit, copy, edit, alter, store, re-format and sub-licence the Competition entry for such purposes set out in clause 6.2.1.
6.3 Winning entrants agree:
6.3.1 that the Promoter may make entries available on its website or any other media whether now known or invented in the future, and solely for the purposes of publicising the Competition; and
6.3.2 to grant the Promoter a non-exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable licence, for the full period of any intellectual property rights in the Competition entry, to use, display, publish, transmit, copy, edit, alter, store, re-format and sub-licence the Competition entry for such purposes set out in clause 6.3.1.
6.4 The Promoter is the owner, or the licensee, of all intellectual property rights, its website and other media, and the material published on it. Those works are protected by copyright laws and treaties around the world. All such rights are reserved.
7. Personal data 
7.1 By entering the Competition, entrants agree that any personal information provided by them with the Competition entry may be held and used only by the Promoter or its agents and suppliers to administer the Competition.
7.2 Entrants agree to the use of their name and online description of their idea/enterprise by the Promoter for publicity purposes.
7.3 Subject to clause 7.2, entrants’ personal information will not be passed on to third parties. All personal information is treated as confidential. Entrants can withdraw or modify their consent to collection and processing of personal information at any time by writing to: dbace@mewe360.com
7.4 Entrants can access a copy of the Promoter’s privacy policy here.

8. General 
8.1 For the avoidance of doubt, the winners are not guaranteed employment with or any financial funding beyond that awarded from the Promoter, Deutsche Bank or any other affiliates.
8.2 When accessing the Promoter’s or Deutsche Bank’s premises, each winner agrees to comply with the Promoter’s and Deutsche Bank’s policies, including but not limited to the Promoter’s and Deutsche Bank’s confidentiality, health and safety and security policies.
8.3 If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these Terms, the Promoter or Deutsche Bank may, at their sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude entrants from participating in the Competition.
8.4 The Promoter reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the Competition where it becomes necessary to do so for any reason.
8.5 The Promoter may revise the Terms at any time by amending this page.
8.6 These Terms shall be governed by English law, and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
